Kyle Shachmut, Board Member

Kyle Shachmut is a blind student and technology professional from Newton, MA. He moved to Massachusetts in 2007 from Arkansas where he grew up and attended Hendrix College. He is married and is the proud father of two young daughters.

He has been the president of the Massachusetts Association of Blind Students since 2009. The student division works with many students from around MA and the nation on advocating for accessibility on college campuses and promoting student empowerment and self-advocacy.

Kyle is presently a doctoral student at Boston University School of Education, studying curriculum and teaching with an emphasis in educational media and technology. He is passionate about the role technology continues to play in education. He works closely with several state and national initiatives working toward increasing the accessibility of materials in K-12 and post secondary education. Kyle is an entrepreneur and also consults with individuals and institutions as the owner of Shachmut Consulting LLC.
